Register for early learning programs at CPCC/OEYC Back to school means back to regular programming at the Caledon ParentChild Centre/Ontario Early Years Centre (CPCC/OEYC). The fall session of children's early learning programs and parenting education opportunities begins the week of Sept. 25. Some new and old favourites will be back by popular demand. Registrations will be accepted the week of Sept. 11-16 for the following free programs: You & Your Baby - 0 to 6 months. This program provides information, support, socialization and referrals for new moms. Topics include feeding and nutrition, safety, family adjustment, infant health, developmental milestones etc. Babies remain with moms. Baby Playtime - 6 to 12 months. This program provides socialization and playtime for parents and their infants while including information about early developmental tasks. Adults will take home creative ideas to support and stimulate their child's development. Infant Mother Goose - 0 to 12 months. Adults and children will be introduced to an interactive program of songs, rhymes and cuddly games babies love. Toddler Mother Goose - 12 to 24 months. This interactive program focuses on the use of songs, finger plays, rhymes and storytelling for adults and children. Toddler Time - 18 to 36 months. This fun and interactive program is designed to enrich all aspects of the toddler's development. Adults and children will play together in a free play environment set up with exciting learning opportunities. Creative Kids - 2 to 6 years. Children and adults will explore all aspects of the arts including drama, music and visual arts. Basic concepts encourage listening, watching, imitating, gross motor development and language skills. Preschool Time - 3 to 6 years. Structured activities will enhance cognitive development. The learning concepts explored will help prepare young children for school. Fun with Science - 3 to 6 years. Hands on experiments will help your child to find out why things happen in our fascinating world. Your child's natural curiosity will be encouraged along with inquiry and problem solving, language and social skills. Play & Learn - 0 to 6 years. "Play is the work of a child." An hour of fun-filled educational activities will be provided to children and their accompanying adults to experience, explore, play and learn together. Offered at the Cheltenham satellite only. Based on registration volume and space limitations, a lottery system may be used to determine participation. To register for the above programs, contact the CPCC/OEYC at 905-8570090. The CPCC/OEYC is a place where families with young children have the opportunity to explore a variety of early child development programs, services and helpful information on parenting skills and children's literacy. As a designated Ontario Early Years Centre, all Ontario Early Years services are offered free of charge to parents and anyone caring for a young child. Please note, "Family Time" drop-in is open six days a week and programs are also being offered at the satellite location in Cheltenham, however, the centre will be closed the week of Sept. 2-9 for fall program planning.
