During the Labour Day long weekend, Caledon OPP laid 252 speeding charges; 12 seatbelt charges; 14 insurance related charges and 29 other Highway Traffic Act charges.

Friday, Sept. 1, at approximately 2:46 p.m., Officer Girouard of the Caledon OPP Traffic Unit observed a motor vehicle traveling at an extreme high rate of speed on Highway 9 near Regional Road 50 in Caledon. Twenty-year-old Andrew Emsley of Sutton, Ontario was charged with Speeding

152 km-h in an 80-km-h posted zone. Court date for the 72 km-h over charge is set for Oct. 12.

Alcohol and Driving

Tuesday, Aug. 29, following a traffic complaint, 54year-old Christopher Loach of Caledon was arrested in a vehicle near Queensgate Blvd. and Regional Road 50. He was subsequently been charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood. Court date has been set for Oct. 5.

Thursday, Aug. 31, a driver was arrested after failing to stop for police at a R.I.D.E. spot check location. Caledon officers had set up a spot check on Regional Road 50 near Queensgate Blvd. A vehicle approached the officers' location and when directed to stop his vehicle, he refused to do so and continued northbound on Regional Road 50. Officers successfully stopped the vehicle on Regional Road 50 near Allan Drive. Forty-seven-year-old Robert Peart of Toronto was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood, Dangerous Operation, Disobey Officer Directing Traffic and Fail to Comply with Undertaking. He was held for a bail hearing Aug. 31.

Saturday, Sept. 2, a traffic complaint received from a motorist led to the arrest of a driver located in a parking lot on Regional Road 50 in Bolton. Twenty-six-year-old Joaquin Tikieng of Scarborough was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. of Alcohol in 100 mls. of Blood. He will appear in court Oct. 5.

Assault

Wednesday, Aug. 30, a dispute between two men on Chapel Street in Bolton resulted in a criminal charge. Forty-nine-year-old Charles Windsor of Caledon was charged with Assault and Utter Threats. He will appear in court Oct. 5.

Break & Enter

Thursday, Aug. 31, two yard sheds of a Chinguacousy Road property were entered during the night hours. Lawn equipment, two generators and electric gardening equipment were stolen from the sheds.

Mischief

Monday, Aug. 28, a homeowner of a John Street home in Caledon East reports egging of their home.

Wednesday, Aug. 30, damages at a Regional Road 50 restaurant parking lot were reported to police. The damage is believed to have occurred overnight. Light fixtures were damaged and ripped out of the ground.

Wednesday, Aug. 30, a homeowner of a Highbury Street residence in Bolton reports his home was egged.

Recovered Vehicles

Monday, Aug. 28, a pickup truck that had been reported stolen from York Region was located abandoned on Walton Drive in Cedar Mills. When located, there was minor damage to the vehicle.

Tuesday, Aug. 29, a vehicle was stolen from the driveway of a Lightheart Drive home in the Mayfield West area. It was recovered the following day in Peel Regional Police's jurisdiction.

Thursday, Aug. 31, a vehicle that was stolen from a Brampton residence was located abandoned and set on fire on Escarpment Sideroad and Horseshoe Hill Road.

Theft

Tuesday, Aug. 29, a laptop was stolen from a vehicle left parked at a grocery store parking lot in Bolton.

Wednesday, Aug. 30, during the night hours, a vehicle parked at an Ivan Avenue residence was entered. Small change was taken from within.

Wednesday, Aug. 30, two parked vehicles at a Farmer's Lane address were entered during the night hours. A pack of cigarettes was stolen as well as a GPS system.

Friday, Sept. 1, a purse was stolen from an unlocked vehicle which was left parked at a Mount Hope Road residence.

Domestic Disputes

Caledon OPP officers responded to six domestic disputes Aug. 29 to Sept. 2. No charges were laid.
