Competition no match for U-9 girls

The Bolton U-9 girls' soccer team took home the gold from the recent Thornhill Challenge Cup tournament.
The Bolton U-9 girls soccer team took home the gold from the recent Thornhill Challenge Cup.

The first game against Newmarket was a success with a score of 4-0. Two goals were scored by Jennifer Smith and a goal each by Amanda Scarafile and Kennedy Bechard.

The girls second game against North Mississauga 1 ended in a 1-1 tie with Bolton's goal scored by Jennifer Smith.

The third game against Wexford was close. The first goal of the game was by Jennifer Smith. Wexford soon tied it up. A lot of nail biting was going on when Wexford got a penalty kick. After a great save by

Valentina Gonzalez, Kennedy Bechard passed the ball from our end forward to Jennifer Smith and with the speed of lightning, scored her second goal of the game to give Bolton a 2-1 win.

The girls final game of Saturday was against Barrie. Jennifer Smith, Amanda Scarafile and Sarah Cola all scored a goal each for a final score of 3-0.

The semifinals had the Bolton girls in first place. They played against North Mississauga 2. After Jennifer Smith scored four goals and Kennedy Bechard scored one, our girls were off to the final with a 5-1 victory. The final against North

Mississauga 1 had the girls victorious again with a score of 4-1. Three goals were scored by Jennifer Smith and one by Sarah Cola.

This tournament saw the girls with 19 goals for and only two goals against. The team's defenders, Amber Bateman, Stephanie Guhl, Logan Hanczyk and Alexandra Micieli were a solid wall. Kennedy Bechard and Victoria Bozzo were quick on the ball, and the forwards Jennifer Smith, Sarah Cola, Emily Conte Alessia Grano and Erica Porco were no match for the other teams.
