Gillberg wins in golf skills

Richard Gillberg, 18, of Bolton, playing out of Glen Eagle Golf Club, was a divisional winner in the Sundog skills competition at the MJT Ontario Tour Championship at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge, Aug. 14-16.

The 54-hole event on the superb, demanding golf course attracted a field of top juniors from Alberta, British Columbia and all over Ontario.

Gillberg shot a threeround total of 245 to finish tied for 11th in the boys 17 and up category. He had rounds of 90-83-72 on the par-72 course.

His score was 26 strokes behind the winner Kevin Palmer, 18, of Sarnia.
