The Caledon Cavaliers have created club history by advancing both the senior and junior teams to the playoffs.
The seniors team played in the semifinals versus the Toronto Lions, the first time in club history the Cavaliers have made it to the playoffs. After a tough game, the Cavaliers ended up losing the semifinals to end their season in with an outstanding third place in the league.
The Junior U-19 team won the quarterfinal match versus Aurora Barbarians to advance to the semifinals.
Although Caledon juniors have made a quarterfinal match before, this is the club's first junior quarterfinal junior WIN. Caledon won 27-0, with an entire team effort.
Junior captain Charlene Riedler made a crucial gamewinning toss to have Caledon choose the starting end, using her extreme playoff focus, Charlene decided to start with the sun in Caledon's back. This decision was instrumental since the Barbarians had to start the game with the low evening bright sun directly into their eyes.
Caledon received the initial kickoff and worked their way down the field to score within two minutes of starting the match. The entire team was ready for this game, and maintained a work effort not been seen throughout their already undefeated regular season 150 points for and only 27 against representing a 85 per cent offensive.
Most impressive during the game was returning veterans Alex Grosse, Pearl Kersey, Alexander Dresser, Kellie Haggett, Laura Sperduti, Lydia Voura, Nicole Probert, and Sam MacIntyre. All the junior first-year rookies during the game produced a very high level of rugby.
Coaches Todd Russell and Chris O'Connor are both more then proud of the way the girls on both teams have stepped up this season, making the Caledon Cavaliers a team to reckon with!
