Finals set for IBHL

Semifinal action in the Inglewood Ball Hockey League had Sports Unlimited and the Blue Team emerging victorious. They face off for the finals Tuesday, Aug. 22.

Sports Unlimited 7, Carney Plumbing 3

In a tight first frame Steve Smith from Tony Sousa and Tyler Woodison got Sports on the board with the only goal.

Period two saw Sports come alive for five, with Brad Bunn from Jon Lee and Aiden Maloney, Jeremy Ciccerelli from Derek Lemme and Rob Sytsma, Claudio Campoli from Sousa and Steve Robichaud, Sytsma from Woodison and Maloney and Woodison from Maloney and Smith, while Carney got on the board with Mike Zimmerman from Bob McHardy and Brian Dunn, Pierre Philipon from Derek Lockerbie and Shawn Lane and Zimmerman from Lockerbie and Colin Gosling.

Sports put it away in the third with an empty netter from Brad Bunn with the assist to Maloney.

Blue Team 6, CEAV 1

Blue got it going in the first with Craig Shaw from John Uren and Matt Wilkinson, and Corey Heron from Geoff Christie getting markers.

The second frame saw Blue add a trio more when Owen Speirs from Matt Speirs, Shaw (unassisted) and Shaw from Uren scored.

The third period saw Wade Speirs from Shaw and Ian Wilkinson salt it away for Blue. CEAV did manage to answer back with Alex Ball finding the back of the net to stop the shutout.
