Put common sense back at Town Hall

Re: Council has hidden agenda for Ellwood Drive

I read with interest the article on Ellwood Drive's hidden agenda. I'm glad somebody stood up and is keeping our mayor honest.

This is an old issue that was closed Oct. 22, 2001. Our taxes paid $301,500 for Ellwood due to a planning error just a couple of years back and now apparently we want to throw the money away. This is not my idea of responsible financial management! Better yet, let's waste the money and force the commuter traffic off Ellwood which is half populated with homes and run the traffic through New Ellwood West and the Wakely subdivision which is a young family neighbourhood.

Please would somebody put some common sense back in our Town Hall! Now five years later the issue that annoys me the most is that our mayor speaks out of both sides of her mouth. At one meeting with local residents she is apparently telling the residents oh, no Ellwood won't close for years, and then at another meeting she is telling other local residents it will likely close when Coleraine is widened next year. I don't know about a hidden agenda, but I do know that our mayor can't keep to the same story.

I use Ellwood everyday with several of my neighbouring residents. It is a main artery for Bolton and the issue is not about closing it, it's about our mayor committing to something and sticking to her word and finally, it's a really about getting the police to enforce the speed limits that's a real "no brainer."
