Chris Pratt of Belfountain has been selected by Jump Canada as the ProChaps Athlete of the Month for July.
Pratt has been on fire this season, and after being
chosen as part of the Canadian Equestrian Team competing at the World Equestrian Games (WEG) in Aachen, Germany Aug. 29 to Sept. 3, he travelled to the CSI-3 International
Bromont, held at the Bromont Equestrian Centre in Quebec, site of the equestrian sports at the 1976 Olympics.
In Bromont, Pratt dominated the competition,
winning the Kubota Cup Grand Prix with Susan Grange's nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare, Bequia. The following day, he won the $125,000 CN Grand Prix, this time aboard his WEG mount, Rivendell, an 11-year-old Westphalian gelding also owned by Susan Grange.
"I'm so proud of the three Lothlorien-owned horses that I competed with in Bromont," commented Pratt, who also won the sixyear old jumper development class aboard Split Decision. "We have a great team at Lothlorien and our system of developing horses is really proving itself effective."
In recognition of his achievement, Pratt will receive a pair of state-ofthe art riding chaps, compliments of ProChaps.
"Receiving the Jump Canada Athlete of the Month award is a big, big honour considering the top quality riders who have won in previous months," stated
Pratt. "The publicity and recognition created from this award is very important to us in the sport and we are fortunate to have such an award."
