 | | On behalf of the members of council, I would like to invite you to attend the third annual Fall Fest Sunday, Aug. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m. This year's Fall Fest will be held at the R.J.A. Potts Park on Pembrook Street (behind St. John the Baptist School) in Bolton. There are free activities, face painting and prizes so bring the family. Something new at Fall Fest will be the entertainment. Organized Chaos is a three-piece band whose sound is influenced by funk, rock, reggae and the blues. We hope to see you and your family there! The Annual Midnight Madness, hosted by the Business Improvement Area (BIA) of downtown Bolton will be held Friday, Aug. 18. As usual, Queen Street (north of King Street) will be closed for festivities. This is a fun-filled family event and a great way to create exposure for our local businesses. This week, I along with councillors Paterak, Wallace, Lyons, Thompson, deBoer, and Groves are attending the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa. Since the convention is in Ottawa, I will be spending a little extra time with my daughter-in-law, as my eldest son Andrew has recently departed to serve with the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan. As such, I will not be in attendance at Midnight Madness but wish everyone a wonderful evening and would like to congratulate the organizers and volunteers for a job well done. It is certain to be a success!
There are many wonderful events to attend in the Town of Caledon every year. It is important that the volunteers know how thankful the residents are of their hard work and dedication to improving community spirit. Volunteers are special people and they are always in demand.
As our population ages, more volunteers are needed. One organization within the
Town of Caledon always looking for volunteers is the Caledon Meals on Wheels. This organization delivers meals and conversation to elderly and disabled residents that are still able to live in their own homes. This is a valued service in our community. It provides independence and a better quality of life for these residents. There are many types of volunteer positions at Caledon Meals on Wheels, which include delivering meals (daily, weekly or even monthly); in-home visiting; security check (making telephone contact for conversation and safety assurance); home support exercise; office support, and much more.
