Caledon OPP officer assaulted during arrest
Traffic Caledon OPP officers responded to 27 property damage and five personal injury collisions during the week of July 17-23. After effects of the severe wind and rain storms that hit many parts of the Caledon area kept OPP officers extremely busy throughout the last several days. Officers responded to calls of traffic lights out or malfunctioning, downed trees, downed hydro wires and numerous alarm calls due to the power outage. High Milers of the Week Sunday, July 23, an officer observed two motorcycles on Highway 10, south of Boston Mills using the center lane to pass other vehicles and doing so at excessive speeds. The two motorcycles were both carrying passengers at the time of the incident. Both bikes were stopped and the drivers were charged. Twenty-three-yearold Barry Elen and 23-yearold Michael Jones, both of Brampton, were charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Speeding-169 km-h in a posted 80 km-h zone. Court date for both men has been set for Aug. 24. Alcohol and Driving Wednesday, July 19, as a result of his involvement in a motor vehicle collision on Charleston Sideroad near Main Street, 37-year-old Donald MacNeil of Caledon was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. He will appear in court Aug. 24. Friday, July 21, twentyone year-old Derek Glagow of Shelburne was been charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood following his involvement in a motor vehicle collision at Bush Street near Shaws Creek Road. He will appear in court Aug. 24. Saturday, July 22, charges were laid following a motor vehicle collision at Albion Hills Conservation area. Forty-two-year-old Sarah McDonald of Brampton was charged with Impaired Driving, Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. She will appear in court Aug. 24. Saturday, July 22, a vehicle stop for a R.I.D.E. spot check on Old School Road and Kennedy Road resulted in a criminal charge for the driver, 40-year-old Christopher Merten of Caledon. He will appear in court Aug. 24, charged with Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Saturday, July 22, a routine traffic stop on King Street and Station Road resulted in criminal charges for the driver, 24-year-old David Nadin of Caledon. He was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Motor Vehicle-Over 80 mgs. Of Alcohol in 100 mls. Of Blood. Court date is set for Aug. 24. Assault Tuesday, July 18, a dispute between two men regarding a business matter escalated to a point of physical assault at a Regional Road 50 retail plaza in Bolton. Forty-nine-year-old Mario Cervoni of Caledon was charged with Assault with a Weapon and Assault Cause Bodily Harm. He will appear in court Aug. 17. Tuesday, July 18, an officer observed a vehicle fail to stop at the stop sign controlled intersection of Centreville Creek Road and Patterson Side Road. The officer attempted a vehicle stop. The vehicle exited Patterson Sideroad into a residential driveway. The driver entered the house refusing to stop for the officer. The vehicle driver, 57year-old Nelson Bible of Caledon was eventually arrested within the residence and charged with the criminal offence of Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest and the Highway Traffic Act offence of Disobey Stop Sign. He will appear in court Aug. 24. Friday, July 21, a dispute escalated into a physical confrontation between a Halls Lake Sideroad homeowner and a renovation worker. The home's interior was damaged by spray-paint and the homeowner was assaulted with spray-paint during the disagreement. Fifty-two-year-old Robert Sevigny of Caledon was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Unlawfully in a Dwelling House, Mischief and Utter Threats to Cause Bodily Harm. Court date has been set for Aug. 24. Break & Enter Tuesday, July 18, a snack bar at a Bolton area baseball field was broken into. Several thousand dollars worth of damage was caused and items stolen. Tuesday, July 18, a garage of a Wood Circle residence was entered during the night hours. Two dirt bikes have been reported stolen. Drugs Monday, July 17, 23year-old Michael Tidey of Caledon was charged with Driving While Impaired by Drug and Breach of Probation following a traffic stop on Coleraine Drive near Healey Road. He was held for a bail hearing July 18. Tuesday, July 18, a traffic stop on Castlederg Sideroad for a seatbelt violation resulted in charges for three male occupants of the vehicle. Nineteen-year-old Brett Weight, 18-year-old Justin Newwell and 18-year-old Robyn Peyer all of Caledon have been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance-Marihuana. All three have been given a court date of Aug. 21. Thursday, July 20, a 17year-old Caledon male was charged with Possession of a Controlled SubstanceHashish and Possession of a Controlled SubstanceCannabis Resin following a traffic stop on Highway 9 near Airport Road. The youth will appear in court Aug. 21. Saturday, July 22, a charge was the result of a routine traffic stop at Old School Road near Kennedy Road for 51-year-old Matthew Martin of Brampton. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled SubstanceMarihuana and will appear in court Aug. 28. Sunday, July 23, charges were laid following the investigation of a motor vehicle collision on Regional Road 50. Twentyyear old Lee-Anna Maccarone of Caledon was charged with Driving While Impaired by Drug and Possession of Cocaine. She will appear in court Aug. 24. Man charged with sexual assault OPP Caledon Crime Unit investigators have arrested and charged a 32-year-old male following a report of a sexual assault that occurred in Caledon. An adult female employee of a Kennedy Road farm in Caledon reported an incident of assault, which occurred Wednesday, July 19, while a veterinarian was at the farm to conduct an inspection. Thursday, July 20, 32year-old Dr. Tej Pratap Dhaliwal of Brampton was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault. He was released with a court date of Aug. 31. Dhaliwal is a doctor of veterinary medicine employed by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency. He has worked at different locations in Caledon, Brampton and possibly other areas of the Greater Toronto Area. Caledon OPP is anxious to speak with other women who may have been victimized or may have additional information to offer to the investigators.
