Councillor Garry Moore made it official last week he' s running for mayor in the coming municipal election. He signed the papers with help from clerk Cheri Cowan. Bolton area councillor Garry Moore hopes to bring the issues and people's concerns to the table, as he sets his sights on the mayor's chair in the municipal election this November.

Joined by a handful of loyal supporters, Moore submitted his papers to clerk Cheri Cowan last Wednesday morning.

He said he called Mayor Marolyn Morrison prior to filing his papers, to let her know his intentions.

He also noted that during the last election, there was a certain amount of campaigning going on inside the council chambers and he wants to avoid any of that.

If elected, he vows to represents citizens full-time. There are so many local issues that need to be addressed, Moore said, adding he wants to be part of the solution.

The issues and concerns of residents were made very apparent when Moore campaigned as the Liberal candidate in the last federal election. After that experience, he decided Caledon was the best place for him to spend his time. He's actually more excited about his mayoral campaign than his federal bid.

He hopes to get back to unifying Caledon and working with the business community. Council, he said, needs vision and teamwork. Just as every team needs a captain, so to, does the municipality. He wants to be that energetic leading influence. He will be working on his campaign specifics over the next few weeks.

He doesn't see any obstacles or hurdles in his path. "I'm very prepared for this role," he said.
